    Sunil Sarkar of Akron, Ohio is pleased to provide a collection of stamps honoring “The Great Bengalis” in literature, arts, music, movies, freedom fighters, science & technology, sports, and religious reformers. He will also be presenting Indian history through coins from the Mughal Empire, British Empire, and Post-Independent India.


    Mr. Sarkar says his life can be documented through his love of stamps and coins. Born in Dhaka (at present in Bangladesh), his earliest memories include using his lunch money to start his stamp collection. Unlike most collectors that enjoy accumulating stamps, Mr. Sarkar says his greatest love in collecting is giving away his treasures. “There is no occasion in which a coin or stamp isn’t an appropriate gift,” he says. “I can always find a stamp or coin that is reflective of person’s hobbies or passions. That is the beauty of collecting things that have such a rich and diverse heritage.”


    His love for travel has taken him to five continents with highlights including Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, Russia, Australia and North America. Of course these travels have grown his collections as well! His two daughters and wife are recipients of many gifts, including “love” and “Christmas” stamps of USA collections and his five grandchildren already have their coin collections started!


    Outside of his many hobbies, Sunil works at Bridgestone/Firestone as a chemical engineer. He also enjoys being a member of the American Philatelic Society and Rubber City Stamp Club of Akron. Of all his collections, he is most proud of his stamps and covers honoring Gandhi and the eighteen host countries of modern Summer Olympics (beginning since 1896) and eleven host countries of winter Olympics. Moreover, he possesses complete sets of coins and selected currencies of more than150 nations which include all the European nations before and after joining the Euro Community.
